DHCS Receives 2012 Best of California Award
The Best of California Awards program salutes Information Technology (IT) professionals and projects in California state and local government organizations and educational institutions. The awards presentation is held at the annual "GTC" (Government Technology Conference) West each May.
This past May, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and one of its employees received the following awards:
Best Mobile/Wireless Project
Mobile Device Management (MDM), California Department of Health Care Services
The Mobility Device Manager (MDM) allows DHCS employees to access work information on personal mobile devices, saving an estimated $262,000 on formerly state-issued mobile phones.
Outstanding IT Service and Support Award Winner
Recognizing the tireless work of those who work day after day - as team members, team leads, IT project leads and managers - upholding the highest standards of public service.
- Jerry Henson, Department of Health Care Services
Jerry was nominated for his outstanding work in assisting DHCS with the department transitions of the Department of Mental Health, Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs (Drug Medi-Cal), and several programs from the Department of Public Health. He also assisted with the transition of the Office of the Patient Advocate to the California Health and Human Services Agency. In addition, Jerry was instrumental in the Short-Doyle Medi-Cal (SDMC) 5010 upgrades and assisting with a key technical solution to address the Department's backlog of SDMC.
