Medi-Cal Drug Utilization Data    

Medi-Cal drug utilization data is available for fee-for-service outpatient drugs reimbursed on or after July 1, 1996, by Medi-Cal to pharmacies. The data are available in two formats: ASCII fixed length records, and dBASE IV, which is an older database format, but which can easily be read by Excel, Access, and most other database programs.

To download a file, select the type of file below, then select the specific month or quarter in which you are interested.  You may either open the file or save it to your computer. 

As of January 2012, the files are no longer self-extracting; they are now compressed in ZIP format.  You will need to have on your computer a utility to unzip the file before it can be read.

Please note:  The January 2012 data was incorrect and has been updated.  If you downloaded the January 2012 data prior to 4/18/2012, please download it again to ensure you have correct data. 

As of March 2012, dBase will no longer be available.  ASC II files will continue to be uploaded to the website.
