Medi-Cal Drug Utilization Data    

Medi-Cal drug utilization data is available for fee-for-service outpatient drugs reimbursed on or after July 1, 1996, by Medi-Cal to pharmacies. The data are available in two formats: ASCII fixed length records, and dBASE IV, which is an older database format, but which can easily be read by Excel, Access, and most other database programs.

To download a file, click on the type of file below, then select the specific month or quarter in which you are interested.  You may either open the file or save it to your computer. 

The files are no longer self extracting; they are now compressed in ZIP format.  You will need to have on your computer a utility to unzip the file before it can be read.

NOTE:  The June 2005 monthly ASCII file had problems and has been updated with the correct information.  If you downloaded the file before August 11, 2005, please download a new copy.
