README DOCUMENTATION FOR MEDI-CAL ELIGIBLES COUNTS FILE


This file was prepared based on the Medi-Cal MEDSSUM Eligibles File as of the 
month indicated, extracting counts from Jan97 forward.  It is only available 
on the Internet in the form of an Excel Pivot Table.  For users without a 
recent version of Excel that recognizes Pivot Tables, a comparable ASCII, 
column-delimited file can be provided (about 250,000 records) by emailing
a request to us.

The file is compressed (or zipped) into a self-extracting file. 
To decompress (or unzip) simply double-click (using your mouse)
on the ".exe" filename, the "WinZip Self-Extractor" dialog box will appear,
select the location of where to decompress (unzip) the file to (where you want 
the Excel file to reside), and select the Unzip button. Once the file is 
decompressed (unzipped) a confirmation dialog box will appear, at this point,
select the "OK" button and then close the "WinZip Self-Extractor" dialog box.
