834 Transaction - Benefit Enrollment

Overview

The 834 Transaction Project is designed to create a HIPAA-compliant Benefit Enrollment and Maintenance Transaction (834 Transaction). The 834 Transaction will be used only for electronically transmitting enrollment and dis-enrollment information. The 834 Transaction Project includes an alternative method of communicating beneficiary information to health plans (such as eligibility history and financial information currently transmitted to the health plans via the FAME file) that is not included in the 834 Transaction record layout.

The 834 Transaction Project has progressed according to the established OHC Project Plan. Program Business Areas including: MMCD and DHCS-Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) have participated in the review and sign off of project deliverables.
