Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) Program
DSH is a special program which is aimed at making up the short-fall for hospitals when care is provided to an uninsured or underinsured patient and to Medi-Cal beneficiaries. A hospital which provides a certain amount of uncompensated care is designated as a disproportionate share hospital and may subsequently qualify for additional funds.
