DHCS vs. DSS Basketball Game
The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) had a friendly competition with the California Department of Social Services (DSS) in a basketball game at ARCO Arena on March 18, 2008.
Although the DHCS team put up a good fight, the DSS team won by the final score of 55 to 48.
The event at ARCO Arena was a joint effort to increase awareness and participation in the March of Dimes “March for Babies Campaign.” The walk is scheduled for April 26, starting at the West Steps of the State Capitol.

Baseball Night at Raley Field
If you still love the game of baseball, Raley Field will be coordinating an additional four games for DHCS Family and Friends throughout the season. The flyers will come out soon and will be sent department-wide via the Director’s Office. Purchasing the tickets will be much easier this time - rather than one person collecting, Raley Field will provide a link to their ticketmaster webpage and you’ll be able to purchase tickets online. Thanks to everyone who went and for supporting the DHCS team spirit.

Hula Hoop Competition - DHCS vs. DSS
In the true spirit of competition and to avenge our unfortunate defeat at the basketball game against Department of Social Services (CDSS), Director Sandra Shewry has challenged John Wagner, Director of DSS, to a Hula Hoop contest. Other Executive staff will also be participating in this challenge.
All DHCS staff are welcome to come see this fun, certainly hilarious, once-in-a-lifetime, unprecedented event!
