The Department of Health Care Services’ Medi-Cal Fraud Investigations Branch (DHCS-IB) mission is to protect the fiscal integrity of California’s publicly funded health care programs.

Under the direction of the Chief of Investigations, IB fraud investigators are sworn law enforcement officers whose authority extends throughout the State. DHCS-IB fraud investigators conduct criminal, administrative and civil investigations into various types of suspected Medi-Cal program fraud. This fraud may involve beneficiaries and/or providers; fraud committed by providers and recipients of In Home Supportive Services benefits. In addition to beneficiary and provider fraud our fraud investigators also investigate allegations of fraud in any program under the purview of the California Department of Health Care Services.
