Separately Billable Units of Service Guidance Paper and Service Logs Now Available from CAADS!
The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) – Medi-Cal Benefits, Waivers, and Rates Division (formerly known as the Policy Division), in conjunction with the California Association for Adult Day Services (CAADS), released documents and guidelines pertaining to Separately Billable Services (SBS). The documents include guidelines for collecting supplemental data for cost analysis as well as definitions for each SBS.
Audits and Investigations of DHCS is aware that actual data for the first two to three years of the new cost report format has most likely not been maintained by the ADHC provider community. Therefore, these guidelines and forms can be used to collect data for the first couple of years. However, if actual data is available, it is more accurate to report the actual data rather than estimating.
Please note that the sample forms are not a required format. If you choose to use another format or have a format that is already established, please keep in mind that the data included in the format should provide a clear and concise audit trail. The documentation should also support the information included in the annual cost report required by DHCS and will be subject to review during the onsite audit.
The information referred to above can be viewed at the CAADS website:
