LEA Data Match Record Layout
(PDF)
As of June 1, 2005, the LEA Data Match record layout will include the 14-digit BIC-ID number. EDS will require this number on incoming claims beginning late spring. Note: The Data Match Record Layout was updated on 5/20/2005 to correct the label of the first field.
National Provider Identifier (NPI) Presentation
(PDF)
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requires the adoption of a standard unique identifier for health care providers, the National Provider Identifier (NPI). The NPI is 10 digits in length and will replace the current LEA Medi-Cal provider numbers. To comply with this requirement, CMS developed the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) to assign these unique identifiers.
