2008 Medi-Cal Managed Care Quality Conference
On March 24, 2008, the Medi-Cal Managed Care Division (MMCD), in coordination with the Department’s External Quality Review Organization, Delmarva Foundation for Medical Care, Inc., held its 2008 Quality Conference at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Sacramento, CA.
Conference Purpose
This annual one-day conference shares information about the latest healthcare quality improvement strategies and techniques used across the nation among representatives of Medi-Cal managed care plans, State and Federal agencies, advocate groups, and other health professionals working on quality improvement for the Medi-Cal managed care population.
Conference Theme
This year’s conference theme was "Quality Care Coordination: Putting the Pieces Together." Keynote and plenary speakers and a panel discussion focused on the challenges of care coordination in Medi-Cal managed care, creating the “medical home", the evolving check-up visit, and best practices for changing consumer behavior.

2008 Quality Awards
At the 2008 Quality Conference, 23 Quality Awards were presented to acknowledge outstanding performance in the following areas:
In addition, “Special Acknowledgement” Quality Awards were presented to four health plan staff members and to one health plan for their contributions to quality improvement in the Medi-Cal managed care program.
