Weekly Update #11

2014/2015 SMAA STATEWIDE CLAIMING PLAN

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) submitted a revised draft of the 2014/2015 SMAA Statewide Claiming Plan (PLAN) to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for review and approval on Monday June 16, 2014. DHCS will inform all Stakeholders of the result of the CMS review as soon as the information becomes available.

Additionally, DHCS posted the PLAN to the SMAA web site as well as a "Summary of Major Changes" document that details the major changes that were made to the PLAN since the first draft PLAN was posted in November, 2013. DHCS also posted a "Next Steps" document that outlines the steps that need to be completed in the coming months to facilitate a smooth transition to the new Random Moment Time Survey (RMTS) methodology. Please visit the SMAA web page located at http://www.dhcs.ca.gov/provgovpart/Pages/SMAA.aspx.

SMAA WEB SITE CHANGES

SMAA has made some significant changes to the SMAA web site in the last few days. These changes were designed to make it easier to locate information related to RMTS and the Reasonableness Test Criteria (RTC) process. New links have been established to both the RMTS and RTC processes as well as a new link that offers specific criteria and examples for drafting acceptable RTC justifications. The new RMTS and RTC Justifications links are denoted with a star symbol to make them easy to find. Please visit the SMAA web page located at http://www.dhcs.ca.gov/provgovpart/Pages/SMAA.aspx.
