2012 Medi-Cal Managed Care Quality Conference & Quality Awards
On April 11, 2012, the Medi-Cal Managed Care Division (MMCD), in coordination with the Department’s External Quality Review Organization (EQRO), Health Services Advisory Group, Inc., held its 2012 Quality Conference at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Sacramento, California.
Conference Purpose
This annual one-day conference shares information about the latest healthcare quality improvement strategies and techniques used across the nation among representatives of Medi-Cal managed care plans, State and Federal agencies, advocate groups, and other health professionals working on quality improvement for the Medi-Cal managed care population.
The Quality Conference supports the federal obligation of the state Medicaid agency (DHCS) to provide ongoing "technical assistance" to contracted plans related to quality assurance and quality improvement. The conference is a contract requirement of DHCS's EQRO, Health Services Advisory Group, and is currently funded with 75 percent Federal Financial Participation.
Conference Theme
This year’s conference theme was “Reducing Readmissions Through Safe Transitions of Care.” Featured speakers focused on utilizing data to improve transitions of care, collaborating with hospitals and members, implementing community-based interventions, and sharing promising practices to reduce readmissions.
2012 Quality Awards
At the 2012 Quality Conference, nine Quality Awards were presented to acknowledge outstanding performance in the following areas:
- HEDIS® Awards.
- Partnership Awards from the Office of the Ombudsman.
- Special Acknowledgement Awards.
