Strategy for Quality Improvement in Health Care

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has drafted an initial version of the Strategy for Quality Improvement in Health Care (Quality Strategy). The purpose of the Quality Strategy is to serve as the Department’s blueprint to improve health, enhance quality, and reduce health care costs. There are seven priorities in the Quality Strategy, which include: improve patient safety; deliver effective, efficient, affordable care; engage persons and families in their health; enhance communication and coordination of care; advance prevention; foster healthy communities; and eliminate health disparities.  The Quality Strategy and a recently conducted Quality Improvement Inventory of all DHCS programs will help inform the development of a DHCS Quality Improvement Implementation Plan.

Webinar (August 23, 2012)

DHCS hosted a statewide webinar to inform interested parties about the Quality Strategy and provide an opportunity to engage in a question and answer session.
