Home and Community Based Medication Dispensing Machine Pilot (MDM Pilot) Project

Welcome to the Home and Community Based Medication Dispensing Machine Pilot (MDM Pilot) Project resource page.  On March 24, 2011, California adopted Senate Bill 72 (SB 72), which authorized the establishment of the MDM Pilot Project.

The intent of this project is to assist individuals who are living in the community to remain within their home environment and avoid unnecessary emergency room, hospital, and nursing facility admissions due to those individuals not taking medications as prescribed (non-adherence).  The beneficiary population most affected by this initiative is high risk seniors who are dually eligible for both Medicare and Medi-Cal, as well as persons with disabilities and other select Medi-Cal recipients.

DHCS has created this page to inform interested stakeholders such as advocates, consumers, counties, legislative staff, vendors, providers, and state associations of project performance and related information.

Please email questions, comments, or concerns to MDMPilot@dhcs.ca.gov.
