Bridging program ............... page 10
Question 1:
(posted 11/15/07): The Department has instructed counties to bridge children to Healthy Families when the beneficiary is receiving restricted Medi-Cal benefits because the individual cannot provide documents and moves from no share of cost to a share of cost as redetermination. Which aid code should counties use to bridge these children to the Healthy Families program?
Answer 1:
(posted 11/15/07): A
t this time, there is not a restricted aid code for counties to bridge children from the Medi-Cal program to the Healthy Families program.
The Department expects to implement aid code E1 (Medi-Cal to Healthy Families Bridge-Restricted Benefits) in April – June 2008.
If a county needs to bridge a child that is unable to meet citizenship/identity requirements from the Medi-Cal program to the Healthy Families program prior to the implementation of aid code E1, the county should retain the child in their existing restricted aid code for the one month bridge period.
The county should not place a child that should be receiving restricted benefits because of the inability to meet citizenship/identity requirements into a full-scope bridging aid code.
