Other Citizenship documents ............... page 16
Question 1:
(posted 11/15/07):
The Department informed counties that there will be some cases where an individual will provide a document that is not listed in Table 1 of the ACWDL.
If the county believes the document constitutes reliable documentation of citizenship, the county should notify the Department.
Once the Department approves a new documentation type, what should the counties enter into MEDS?
Can the Department add a new field to MEDS, called “Approved by DHCS”, that would allow counties to report that the individual provided acceptable documentation that is not in Table 1 of the ACWDL?
Answer 1:
(posted 11/15/07):
When and if the Department approves the use of a citizenship document that is not in Table 1 of the ACWDL, the Department will report the appropriate Citizenship information to MEDS for that individual. The Department will modify MEDS as needed to accept the new documentation type of "Other Acceptable Document Approved by DHCS." The Department would be the only entity that would report this new document type to MEDS.
