In-Home Supportive Services Plus (IHSS Plus)
Provides aged, blind and disabled individuals an array of self-directed personal care assistance and delivery options that are not available under the Personal Care Services Program. This Independence Plus Waiver enables recipients to remain in their own home or family home.

Eligibility Requirements
Medi-Cal eligible individuals who are determined, through assessment, to need personal care and related in-home assistance to remain safely in their homes.
County social services staff conduct the assessments utilizing a uniform process that includes the following four elements:
- Uniform definitions of functions which are clearly correlated to tasks authorized for IHSS programs
- A ranking scale, defining each function and behavior a participant would exhibit to rank at each level
- A Functional Index score, which is a weighted average, giving a measure of the participant's relative dependence on human assistance for performance of basic program tasks, and
- A method of correlating a participant’s discrete rankings and the identification of tasks with which the recipient needs help.
