Medi-Cal Mental Health
Transfer of Medi-Cal related mental health functions and programs from the Department of Mental Health to the Department of Health Care Services.
Introduction
Assembly Bill (AB) 102, which Governor Brown signed into law on June 28, 2011, requires the transfer of Medi-Cal related mental health functions from the Department of Mental Health (DMH) to the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) by July 1, 2012. This is not a change in mental health benefits or eligibility. AB 102 requires DHCS to submit a transition plan to the California Legislature by October 1, 2011, and stakeholder input is critical to our development of this plan. We are convening a series of meeting with stakeholders, and the links below will take you to the materials for each meeting, as well as other information.
Your comments would be of great help to the Department and its development of the transition plan. Please review the Questions for Stakeholder document and send us any comments you have.
DHCS has established a special email address for individuals to submit comments and suggestions for this transition. The address is DHCSMHMEDI-CALTRANSFER@DHCS.CA.GOV.
