Welcome to the California Department of Health Care Services

Adolescent Health Report 2009

Adolescence is a critical time when development sets the course for either a healthy or unhealthy adulthood.  While reproductive health tends to be the focus during this period, there is important physical and behavioral development that influences their health for years to come.  Adolescence is also a time of vulnerability when teens are dependent on their parents and the environment they live in impacts their overall health and future health.  This report provides insight about California adolescents, and the impact policy decisions about resources, schools, community development and public safety have on the next generation.
