The Substance Use Disorder Section (SUDS) administers the funds received by the State of California and provides oversight of funds received by its cities and counties from various opioid-related settlements. Information on California's opioid settlements can be found on the DHCS California Opioid Settlements webpage.
In addition, the SUDS is responsible for the oversight and administration of various projects as part of the California Medication Assisted Treatment Expansion Project. This includes the Naloxone Distribution Project, and non-federally funded MAT expansion projects including MAT Access Points, MAT expansion in state-licensed substance use disorder and mental health treatment facilities, and MAT access in justice systems.
