Student Internship Program

The DHCS Student Internship Program is an unpaid, volunteer opportunity for undergraduate and graduate level students who are able to make a semester, quarter or summer commitment. DHCS internships provide opportunities to work in public service and focus on issues of significance to Medi-Cal beneficiaries, providers, health plans, and state government.

DHCS is the state agency responsible for administering Medi-Cal, the nation’s publicly funded health insurance program for low-income children, families, elderly, and persons with disabilities. The department's mission is to provide access to affordable, high-quality health care, including medical, dental, mental health, substance use treatment services, and long-term care health insurance for approximately 14 million Medi-Cal members.

If you are interested in applying for an internship position at DHCS please submit your resume, a cover letter describing your interest in DHCS, and your top three divisions of interest to the Human Resources Division Recruitment team at Recruit@dhcs.ca.gov. Only fully completed submissions will be evaluated.
