Medi-Cal Access Program

The Medi-Cal Access Program (MCAP) (formerly Access for Infants & Mothers (AIM) program) provides low cost health insurance coverage to uninsured, middle income pregnant women. The total cost is 1.5% of the subscriber's Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI). The State of California and the Federal Government supplement the subscriber contribution to cover the full cost of care.
Pregnant, as of the application date.
Not a recipient of no-cost Medi-Cal or Medicare Part A and Part B benefits as of the application date.
Uninsured or covered by private insurance with a separate maternity deductible or co-payment of more than $500.00
Monthly household income within the MCAP Income Guidelines.
MCAP provides comprehensive healthcare from the effective date of coverage in MCAP until the last day of the month in which the 60th day following the end of the pregnancy occurs.
Pregnant women enrolled in MCAP prior to October 1, 2016, receive their care from participating health plans. Pregnant women enrolled in MCAP on October 1, 2016, to June 30, 2017, receive their care from Medi-Cal Fee-For-Service until the end of their post-partum period. Pregnant women enrolled in MCAP on or after July 1, 2017, will receive their care from Medi-Cal Managed Care until the end of their post-partum period.
Babies born to women enrolled in MCAP are eligible for enrollment in the Medi-Cal Access Infant Program.
