Back to Stop Medi-Cal Fraud 

 

DHCS investigators, as well as investigators from the California Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, have assisted federal and state prosecuting attorneys in Medi-Cal fraud cases. From July 2000 to February 2002, 323 Medi-Cal providers have received criminal convictions for fraud.

The Department's anti-fraud activities resulted in a Cost Savings of over $94 million and a Cost Avoidance of over $26 million for the period July 2000 through June 2001. CDHS, in conjunction with the FBI and DOJ, assisted federal and state prosecuting attorneys in developing criminal charges against 506 individuals, which resulted in 323 convictions.​
