Annual Examination Plan for 2026
In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, most positions within state civil service require candidates to complete and pass an examination (exam) to be hired for the state civil service classification tied to the position in which they are applying. Most exams allow candidates to provide additional information on how they are qualified for the classification. Detailed information regarding each exam, including exam instructions, can be found on the exam bulletin.
Exam bulletins announce all pertinent exam details, including testing instructions and requirements. For “Dated” exams, exam bulletins are typically released during the quarter the exam is administered. Exam bulletins for “Continuous” exams are available now. The exam bulletin release schedule is subject to change based on operational business needs. Exam bulletins are accessible by clicking on the “classification” name listed below.
DHCS’ 2025 exam plan, as outlined below, includes exams administered by DHCS, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), and the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR).
