Dental Medi-Cal Managed Care Plan Transition

Beginning in July 2025, there will be changes in the Dental Managed Care (DMC) plans in Sacramento and Los Angeles (LA) counties.

Members in Sacramento and LA counties will have the option to enroll in Health Net of California, Liberty Dental Plan of California, California Dental Network, or dental Fee-For-Service (FFS) (Los Angeles County members only) effective July 1, 2025.

In Sacramento County, members enrolled in Access Dental Plan or dental FFS will be required to transition into one of the available DMC plans: Health Net of California, Liberty Dental Plan of California, or California Dental Network. Plan members and dental FFS enrollees will get an enrollment packet in the mail, which will help them choose a new plan. If the member or current FFS enrollee does not choose a plan by June 20, 2025; a DMC Plan will be chosen for them, which will start July 1, 2025.

In Los Angeles County, members enrolled in Access Dental Plan can enroll into one of the available DMC plans: Health Net of California, Liberty Dental Plan of California, California Dental Network, or dental Fee-For-Service. If the member wants to enroll in a Medi-Cal DMC plan, they can call Medi-Cal Health Care Options at (800) 430-4263 (TTY: (800) 430-7077). If the member does not decide between a Medi-Cal DMC plan or Medi-Cal Dental FFS by June 20, 2025; the member will be automatically placed in Medi-Cal Dental FFS, which will start July 1, 2025.

Members enrolled in the continuing plans, Health Net or Liberty, will not be impacted by this change. This change does not affect members' Medi-Cal coverage or benefits. Members' Medi-Cal coverage and benefits will stay the same even if their DMC plan changes. However, members will have different DMC plan options effective July 1, 2025 with the addition of the California Dental Network and discontinuation of Access Dental Plan, and can change plans if they choose by calling Medi-Cal Health Care Options at (800) 430-4263 (TTY: (800) 430-7077).
