Directed Payments Program
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) instituted the
final rule which modernized Medicaid managed care regulations. The result is changes in the usage of managed care delivery systems, CFR section 438.6 (c) provides State’s flexibility to implement delivery system and provider payment initiatives under Medicaid managed care plans (MCPs) contracts based on allowable directed payments that focus on delivery system reform.
