| June 2024 Update: Interim Payments for SNF WQIP |
The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has published the second interim payment for the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Workforce and Quality Incentive Program (WQIP) for calendar year 2023.
The interim payments have been adjusted based on AA/A citation data from the California Department of Public Health for any dates of violation that occurred in part or wholly in calendar year 2023. If a facility has an open or closed AA citation, the interim payment will be zero. If the facility has an open or closed A citation, the payment is reduced by 40 percent after all other calculations have been performed. Payment amounts and additional information for each facility are available on the Skilled Nursing Facility Workforce and Quality Incentive Program web page. Managed care plans (MCPs) are required to distribute all payments to SNFs no later than 45 days after receiving payment exhibits from DHCS.

On May 24, 2024, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) released the latest calendar year 2023 Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Workforce and Quality Incentive Program (WQIP) bed day data set to Medi-Cal Managed Care Plans (MCPs). This data will aid MCPs and SNFs in reconciling bed days for calendar year 2023 SNF WQIP scoring and payment purposes. |

| Skilled Nursing Facilities to Validate NPI(s) for SNF WQIP Final Payment Report |
The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) aims to publish the calendar year 2023 final payment report for the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Workforce and Quality Incentive Program (WQIP) at the end of September to early October. Ahead of the next data pull, all facilities should verify that the correct National Provider Identifiers (NPIs) and Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) IDs are listed for their facility for any 2023 dates of service. |

| Provisional Guidance on SNF WQIP Payment Process |
The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is drafting policy guidance for the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Workforce and Quality Incentive Program (WQIP) that will assist SNFs and Medi-Cal managed care plans (MCPs) in bed day reconciliation and payment processes for the calendar year 2023 final payments. This guidance will be sent soon. The original bed day data reconciliation deadline of June 30, 2024, is no longer in effect. Details on the new bed day data reconciliation process is forthcoming and will be communicated with SNF WQIP stakeholders as soon as possible. |
