Back to the Cancer Programs webpage

The DHCS Prostate Cancer Treatment Program (PCTP) is IMPACT: IMProving Access, Counseling & Treatment for Californians with Prostate Cancer.  IMPACT partners with community providers and local health departments to provide prostate cancer treatment to California men who have little or no health insurance.

Information for Men with Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in California men. An estimated 26,350 California men will be diagnosed in 2024.

Age, race and family history all affect a man's level of risk for diagnosis. Early detection and treatment greatly increase your chance of long-term survival, especially when treatment begins at an early state of the disease.

The updated 2022 Prostate Cancer Patient Guide is here! Compiled with the contributions of top-tier doctors and researchers in prostate cancer, it is a must-have resource for patients and families. It focuses all of the information available about contemporary prostate cancer research, treatment, and lifestyle factors into one consolidated document.

Push back against prostate cancer! Men: understand your risk factors, and visit a doctor to discuss testing. Learn more about early detection and treatment. Informed decision making can save your life!

Patients can receive FREE prostate cancer treatment from IMPACT at many hospitals and doctor offices throughout California.
