PACE Policy Letters
The purpose of the PACE Policy Letter is to communicate changes in policy or procedure at the Federal or State levels. These letters provide instruction to the PACE organizations, if applicable on how to implement these changes on an operational basis. What’s New
- PL 25-02The purpose of this Policy Letter (PL) is to inform PACE organizations of the pause to the PACE application process and related changes effective November 20, 2025, until November 19, 2027, at minimum or until otherwise notified through a superseding PL. The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is implementing these changes to ensure appropriate resources to operate the PACE program as well as manage the current rate of growth of the PACE program.

- PL 24-03The purpose of this Policy Letter (PL) is to provide guidance to PACE Organizations (PO), on the requirements of Senate Bill (SB) 923. SB923 was signed into law on September 29, 2022, requiring staff in direct contact with PACE participants to complete evidence-based cultural competency training for the purpose of providing trans-inclusive health care. The passage of SB923, also resulted in amendments to Welfare & Institutions Code (W&I) section 14197.09. This PL provides guidance on what POs must do to comply with the requirements of WIC section 14197.09, statutory compliance due dates and guidelines for the development of evidence-based cultural competency training.

- PL 24-01The purpose of this PL is to provide clarification to the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) Organizations (PO) on the Department of Health Care Services’ (DHCS) policy on telehealth services as outlined in the Medi-Cal Provider Manual. This includes clarification on the services that are covered, and the expectations related to documentation for the telehealth modality.
