The California 811 Project Rental Assistance (PRA) program is a collaborative formal partnership between the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), the State's Medicaid agency, the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and the State's three housing entities: the California Housing Finance Agency (CalHFA), the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), and the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee (CTCAC).
California's Project Rental Assistance Demonstration (Section 811) program to provide permanent supportive housing for extremely low-income persons with disabilities, particularly those who reside in a long-term care facility and desire to return to community living. A primary barrier to returning to the community from a long-term facility is lack of affordable housing.
To qualify for this program applicants must meet all requirements to be eligible:
- Between the ages of 18-61;
- Disabled;
- Living in a long-term health care facility for at least 60 days and the desire to return to community living or are at risk of institutionalization; and
- Medi-Cal eligible individuals who qualify for community-based services and support.
