2025-26 Budget Act

The enacted 2025-26 Budget for the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS)—totaling $202.7 billion ($45.6 billion General Fund) and 4,494.5 positions—illustrates the Administration’s commitment to supporting and evolving the Medi-Cal program within a prudent fiscal framework. The Budget maintains focus on transforming Medi-Cal into a more coordinated, person-centered, and equitable health care system, and continues efforts to modernize the state’s behavioral health delivery system. It also supports improvements in accountability, transparency, and access to community-based behavioral health care as work continues to build a healthier California for all.
