Justice-Involved Reentry Initiative Learning Collaborative Series.

In Fall 2024, the JI Reentry Initiative hosted a Learning Collaborative webinar series, designed to review and reinforce policy guidance and share best practices and lessons learned through in-depth presentation materials, interactive exercises, and guest speaker panels. After each webinar, DHCS hosts corresponding Office Hours sessions to address stakeholder questions. DHCS intends to continue the Justice-Involved Reentry Initiative Learning Collaborative series through 2025 and beyond. Meeting materials and recording links can be found below:

​Justice-Involved Reentry Initiative Learning Collaborative Session 1: Kickoff Meeting – August 22, 2024​​​​

  • Description: The first Reentry Initiative Learning Collaborative session was a kickoff meeting containing an overview of the reentry initiative, Medi-Cal, and provider enrollment, a readiness assessment update, and a look at the top 10 high priority reentry initiative policy issues.

Justice-Involved Reentry Initiative Learning Collaborative Session 3: Behavioral Health Services – September 26, 2024

  • Description: The third Reentry Initiative Learning Collaborative session focused on Behavioral Health Services, including requirements for behavioral health links and best practices for administering Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT). The webinar also featured a panel on MAT implementation, during which representatives from Imperial, Sacramento, and Santa Cruz counties spoke on the current state of MAT within their correctional facilities.

​Justice-Involved Advisory Group

The DHCS CalAIM JI Reentry Initiative Advisory Group met from October 2021 to July 2023. This group was a broad-based body to solicit stakeholder input on policy and implementation of the JI Reentry Initiative. The Advisory Group convened a diverse and visible stakeholder advisory group of leaders and representatives from key sectors, including counties, prisons, jails, providers, consumers, health plans, policy and advocacy organizations.
