National Opioid Settlements Distribution
California's allocation from the National Opioid Settlements will be distributed by the National Settlement Administrator as follows:
- 15% allocated to the State of California to use for future opioid remediation activities (California State Fund);
- 70% allocated to Participating Subdivisions to use for future opioid remediation activities (Abatement Accounts Fund); and
- 15% allocated to Plaintiff Subdivisions to use for future opioid remediation activities and to reimburse past opioid-related expenses (California Subdivision Fund).
Mallinckrodt and Endo Bankruptcy Distribution
California's allocation from the Mallinckrodt Bankruptcy will be distributed by the National Opioid Abatement Trust II (NOAT II) Trustees and Endo Public Opioid Trust as follows:
- 40% of funds will be awarded to the State of California to use for future remediation activities (California State Share);
- 60% of funds will be awarded to Local Governments to use for future opioid remediation activities (Local Government Share).
List of Payments
Table 1 provides a list of opioid settlements that allocate funds to California. Table 2 provides a list of opioid bankruptcies. The exact percentages provided to cities and counties will be based on the percentage schedules found in the relevant California State-Subdivision Agreements and California Mallinckrodt Statewide Abatement Agreement.
Settlement Payments Resource
The National Settlement Administrator, BrownGreer PLC, recently published a resource for Participating Subdivisions detailing current and future allocations from the Janssen and Distributor Settlements. Payments from additional settlements will be added over time. This resource can be used as a tool to support future financial planning for Participating Subdivisions.
