Trauma-Informed Care Primary Care (TIPC) Implementation Advisory Committee
The purpose of the Surgeon General’s Trauma-Informed Care Implementation Task Force is to advise the Surgeon General and California Health & Human Services Agency on promising models, best practices, evolving science and clinical expertise for the implementation of trauma-informed care systems in California. This includes prevention of and screening for Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in primary care as well as integrated response including mental and behavioral health services, care coordination and advancement of diagnostic tools and services to address toxic stress.
Part of this work is providing input on ACEs Aware, an initiative led by the California Surgeon General and the Department of Health Care Services to give Medi-Cal providers training, clinical protocols, and payment for screening children and adults for ACEs. Beginning January 1, 2020, DHCS will provide a supplemental payment to providers for screening Medi-Cal patients up to age 65 for ACEs.
TIPC members are recognized stakeholders/experts in their fields, including but not limited to, representatives of policy and advocacy organizations focused on primary care, specialty medical care, behavioral health, clients and families, behavioral health providers to children and youth, adults and older adults, county entities, managed care plans, providers, academic and research institutions, etc.
