กรมบริการด้านการดูแลสุขภาพ (DHCS) ได้เพิ่มบริการดูลาให้เป็นผลประโยชน์ที่ครอบคลุมเมื่อวันที่ 1 มกราคม พ.ศ. 2566 บริการ Doula นั้นมีให้ทั้งในรูปแบบการคิดค่าบริการตามบริการและผ่านแผนการดูแลสุขภาพแบบองค์รวม (MCP) บริการรวมถึงการสนับสนุนส่วนบุคคลแก่บุคคลและครอบครัวตลอดการตั้งครรภ์และหนึ่งปีหลังคลอด ซึ่งรวมถึงการสนับสนุนทางอารมณ์และทางร่างกายที่ให้ในระหว่างตั้งครรภ์ คลอดบุตร คลอด และหลังคลอด รวมถึงการสนับสนุนหลังจากแท้งบุตรและการทำแท้ง​​

Senate Bill 65 (Skinner, Chapter 449, Statutes of 2021) required DHCS to establish a Doula Implementation Stakeholder Workgroup and publish a report by July 1, 2025. The Doula Benefit Implementation Report is now available and includes quantitative and qualitative data on doula service utilization and recommendations on outreach efforts and reducing barriers to services. This feature is a wonderful way to spread awareness about the benefits available to Medi-Cal members while also illustrating the essential and compassionate care doulas provide to families every day.
