The following are links to California’s Children’s Heath Insurance Program (CHIP) State Plan Amendments (SPAs) that were submitted to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). These SPAs were submitted to CMS for review and are currently pending approval. The final versions may be subject to significant change.​​

2025 CHIP SPAs 2025​​ 

25-0024 Proposes to demonstrate CHIP compliance and alignment with California’s Medicaid program on the federal requirements mandated in Section 5121 of the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA), 2023, for eligible incarcerated youth.​​ 

2020 CHIP SPAs 2020​​ 

20-0034 Demonstrates compliance with the SUPPORT Act as it relates to California’s SCHIP program.​​ 

2018 CHIPs 2018 CHIP SPAs​​ 

18-0026 Demonstrates DHCS’ compliance with 42 CFR 457.496, the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA) final rule as it related to CHIP.​​
