Specialty Mental Health Services para sa mga Bata at Kabataan​​ 

Ang Department of Health Care Services (DHCS)) ay nangangasiwa sa CaliforniaMedicaid Programa (Medi-Cal) ng . Ang Medi-Cal Specialty Mental Health Services (SMHS) Programa ay “carved-out” ng mas malawak na Medi-Cal Programa at tumatakbo sa ilalim ng awtoridad ng waiver na inaprubahan ng Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services sa ilalim ng Seksyon 1915(b) ng Batas sa Social Security. Responsable ang DHCS sa pangangasiwa at pangangasiwa sa Medi-Cal SMHS Waiver Programa, na nagbibigay ng SMHS sa mga benepisyaryo Medi-Cal sa pamamagitan ng county mental Planong Pangkalusugan (MHPs). Ang mga MHP ay inaatasan na magkaloob o magsaayos para sa probisyon ng outpatient at inpatient na SMHS sa mga benepisyaryo sa kanilang mga county na nakakatugon sa pamantayan ng medikal na pangangailangan ng SMHS, na naaayon sa mga pangangailangan at layunin sa paggamot sa kalusugan ng isip ng mga benepisyaryo, gaya ng nakadokumento sa kanilang mga plano ng kliyente. If you think you or your child need specialty mental health treatment services, you can call your MHP toll-free phone number and ask for an appointment for an initial assessment.​​ 

You may also be referred to your MHP for SMHS by another person or organization, including your doctor, school, a family member, guardian, your Medi-Cal managed care health plan, or other county agencies. Usually your doctor or the Medi-Cal managed care health plan will need your permission, or the permission of the parent or caregiver of a child, to make the referral directly to the MHP, unless there is an emergency. Your MHP may not deny a request for an initial assessment to determine whether you or your child meet the criteria to receive services from the MHP.​​
