Adding Links

DHCS WordPress Training Guide

Now that you’ve uploaded a file, let’s add it to a page. We’ll also link to another page.

Go Back to Your Page

  1. From the Content Hub, filter the content so your page appears at the top.
    • Use the search or filters (e.g., Division, Status).
  2. Click Edit on the page you created earlier.

Add a Link to a File

  1. In the page editor, select the text where you want the link.
  2. Click the Link icon in the block toolbar.
  3. You have two options:
    • Option A: Copy + Paste Permalink
      • Go to the file you uploaded.
      • Copy the Permalink from the File Details page.
      • Paste it into the link field.
    • Option B: Search for File Name
      • In the link field, type the file name.
      • WordPress will show matching files.
      • Select the correct file.
  4. Press Enter or click Apply.

Add a Link to Another Page That is Published

  1. Select the text you want to link.
  2. Click the Link icon in the block toolbar.
  3. In the link field, type the page title.
  4. WordPress will show matching pages.
  5. Select the correct page.
  6. Press Enter or select Apply.

Add a Link to Another Page That is Not Published

  1. Go to the page you want to link to.
    • Settings > Page tab, click on Slug
    • Modify the slug or add a space at the end of it (this is an important step)
    • Copy the Slug
    • Save the page
  2. Go back to the page you want to add the link to.
  3. Select the text you want to link.
  4. Click the Link icon in the block toolbar.
  5. In the link field, type the page title.
  6. WordPress will show matching pages.
  7. Select the correct page.
  8. Press Enter or select Apply.
