How It Works
Steps to Connect to an App
- Choose a DHCS-approved app. Only approved apps can connect to your Medi‑Cal data.
- Download the app and follow setup steps.
- Create an account with a strong, unique password. Turn on fingerprint or face sign‑in, if available.
- Verify your identity. Enter your name, address, and recipient ID exactly as recorded by the state.
- Give consent. Consent lets DHCS share your chosen data with the app. You will be asked to give consent each time you log in to use the app or register for a new app.
Other ways to get your health information
You do not have to use an app. You can still call Medi‑Cal or your provider for your health information.
How often does your data update
DHCS updates your data routinely. Some shared data updates daily, weekly, or monthly. If data looks old, check again later. If it still looks wrong, contact Medi‑Cal to request a correction.
Removing Access
You can remove an app’s access anytime. Use the app to remove consent and ask the app to delete your data. Data shared earlier may stay in the app’s system, based on the app’s policy. You can reconnect the app later if you choose.
Access for someone else
You can access another person’s data if you are an Authorized Representative, a person chosen to act on behalf of the member. To become an Authorized Representative, the member must submit the Appointment of Authorized Representative form to the local county office.
If you are a parent or guardian accessing data for a child or teen, some sensitive information is limited due to privacy laws and state-specific rules.
