The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has sole authority to license facilities providing residential nonmedical services to eligible adults who are recovering from problems related to alcohol or other drug (AOD) misuse or abuse. Licensure is required when one or more of the following services is provided: detoxification, individual sessions, group sessions, educational sessions, or alcoholism or drug abuse recovery or treatment planning, incidental medical services. Additionally, facilities may be subject to other types of permits, clearances, business taxes or local fees that may be required by the cities or counties in which the facilities are located. You may also want to check with your county alcohol and drug program office to ensure compliance with any requirements they might have.
Many facilities licensed by DHCS are also certified. Certification by DHCS identifies those facilities that exceed minimum levels of service quality and are in substantial compliance with State program standards, specifically the Alcohol and/or Other Drug Certification Standards.
Providers seeking information on obtaining a license should read the instructions and procedures contained within the Initial Treatment Provider Application (DHCS 6002). Applicants must complete the Initial Treatment Provider Application and submit all required documentation and fees specified in the application.

تعیین سطح مراقبت DHCS
علاوه بر اخذ مجوز از DHCS، مطابق با بخش 11834.015 قانون بهداشت و ایمنی کالیفرنیا، تمام مراکز درمانی یا توانبخشی بزرگسالان دارای مجوز برای ترک اعتیاد به الکل یا مواد مخدر، ملزم به دریافت حداقل یک گواهینامه سطح مراقبت DHCS و/یا حداقل یک گواهینامه سطح مراقبت انجمن پزشکی اعتیاد آمریکا (ASAM) مطابق با تمام خدمات برنامه خود و حفظ استاندارد مراقبتی مربوطه برای آن گواهینامه به عنوان شرط صدور مجوز خود خواهند بود. اطلاعات بیشتر در مورد تعیین سطح مراقبت DHCS در این وبسایت موجود است.

تأسیسات مسکونی دارای مجوز سایر ادارات دولتی مانند وزارت خدمات اجتماعی (DSS) یا وزارت بهداشت عمومی (DPH) نیازی به مجوز AOD مسکونی توسط DHCS ندارند.
