Bond BHCIP Round 2: Unmet Needs grant funding awards of $1.18 billion were announced on March 11, 2026. Through this final round of funding, DHCS prioritized the remaining gaps in the behavioral health continuum, mental health community residential and crisis settings, distribution of funds to rural/remote areas with outstanding behavioral health needs, geographic areas with no prior BHCIP infrastructure projects, and regional models.
*Grant funding awards remain conditional and contingent upon final DHCS verification of the grantee’s eligibility and use of bond funds, identified match amount and source(s), completion of award certification steps, clear title of property, final execution of the Program Funding Agreement, and fulfillment of all program requirements. All Bond BHCIP Round 1 conditional awards are undergoing final evaluation for the final award notice.
Bond BHCIP Round 2: Unmet Needs Dashboard
- Adult Residential Substance Use Disorder (SUD) facilities are required to obtain at least one DHCS Level of Care (LOC) Designation and/or at least one residential ASAM LOC Certification to comply with license compliance requirements.
- The Community Wellness Center facility type is primarily designated as a mental health (MH) outpatient facility though may offer services for SUD or integrated MH and SUD care.
