Medi-Cal Benefits Division
The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), Benefits Division (BD) is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing Medi-Cal medical coverage policy for most health care services provided by California’s federal Medicaid program (called Medi-Cal), which includes both the fee-for-service (FFS) and managed care delivery systems. BD works closely with the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to develop and submit State Plan Amendments so that DHCS can fulfil its strategic vision and core components of its strategic plan to provide equitable access to quality health care leading to a healthy California for all.
BD is comprised of four (4) branches, which include the following:
