BHCIP Round 5: Crisis and Behavioral Health Continuum grant funding awards were announced in June 2023. Through this round of funding, DHCS focused on expanding the range of crisis and behavioral health services in the care continuum statewide to reduce emergency department visits, hospitalizations, and incarceration. To date, DHCS has awarded 41 infrastructure projects totaling $482 million accounting for 72 mental health and/or substance use disorders facilities to support 809 new beds and 4,377 new outpatient treatment slots across California.
