One of the four branches within the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), Benefits Division (BD) is the Cancer Programs Branch, which houses two specialty programs, the Every Woman Counts (EWC) Program and the Prostate Cancer Treatment Program (PCTP).

EWC Program

The EWC Program provides free breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services to California's underserved populations. The mission of the EWC Program is to mitigate the devastating medical, emotional and financial effects of breast and cervical cancer and eliminate health disparities for medically underserved, low-income individuals.

PCTP

The PCTP is overseen by DHCS/BD and administered through a contract with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). The PCTP is also known as IMPACT: Improving Access, Counseling & Treatment for Californians with Prostate Cancer.  The PCTP is a statewide program that partners with community providers and local health departments to provide prostate cancer treatment to individuals who have little or no health insurance. The PCTP develops, expands, and ensures high-quality prostate cancer treatment for low-income (at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level), uninsured, and underinsured California individuals who are 18 and older.
