Directed Payments
In accordance with State Law (California Welfare & Institutions Code §§ 5961 - 5961.5), the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI) provides the State with the flexibility to implement delivery system and provider payment initiatives under the CYBHI. CYBHI is a part of the various statewide efforts aimed at enhancing access to behavioral health services in California's primary and secondary educational institutions. The fee schedule for school-linked behavioral health services defines a specific scope of benefits and rate requirements for Medi-Cal managed care plans (MCPs). MCPs are mandated to reimburse providers at established rates for delivering services to students. The fee schedule aims to streamline and facilitate reimbursement processes for school-linked behavioral health services. This initiative seeks to broaden the range of behavioral health services available to students at, or in proximity to, school sites. By doing so, it aims to improve access to services and outcomes for children, youth, and young adults.
