Departments and Programs Transitioning
Effective July 1, 2012, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) assumed responsibility for administering services of the Department of Mental Health (Medi-Cal only), Alcohol and Drug Programs (Medi-Cal only), the Office of Selective Provider Contracting Program (formerly the California Medical Assistance Commission), and two Department of Public Health programs (Cancer Detection and Office of Family Planning). The transition included employees associated with the aforementioned programs, as well as systems, processes, procedures, policies and website content. Below is a summary of the transition.
